Obituary of Jean E. Browngardt

Mrs. Jean E. Browngardt, 95, of DeRuyter, N.Y. passed away on Sept 25, 2026 at Guthrie Cortland Skilled Nursing Facility. Born Aug 6, 1931 in Cuyler, Jean was a DeRuyter resident most of her life. She was a communicant of St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, DeRuyter, N.Y. and a member of the church choir. Additionally, she was a member of the Gold and Silver Club, Women’s Fire Auxiliary, the Countryside Community Choir and the DeRuyter Free Library where she was a volunteer for 25 years.

Jean is survived by her son; Kevin (Barbara) Browngardt of Myrtle Beach and a daughter; Mary (Lynott) Jordan of Cincinnattus, a brother; Jerome DeGraff ll of Virginia, 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband; Martin Browngardt, a daughter; Judy Browngardt, a son; David Browngardt and a granddaughter; Krista Browngardt.

A Mass of Chrisitan Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 a.m. in St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, DeRuyter, N.Y. The Christian Rite of committal and Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery, DeRuyter. The family will be present to receive friends on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. in the Chapel of Riccardi Funeral Home, Cortland, N.Y.
