Janice E. Hurley, 67, of Locust Ave., Homer, passed away on April 24, 2023, while under the care of Hospice and her loving family.
She was born May 30, 1955, in Cortland, a daughter of the late James and Eleanor Reardon Tanner. Jan spent many years in the Albany area, returning to Homer in 2021.
She spent more than 30 years serving the elderly in assisted living and dementia care units, most recently at the Good Samaritan Lutheran Home in Delmar.
Surviving is her husband, Timothy P. Hurley; three sons, Jason R. Zerrillo of Saratoga Springs; Daniel J. Zerrillo of Slingerlands and Joseph W. Zerrillo of Halfmoon; her siblings, Joanne (Gary) Harrington of Homer; Jim (Karen) Tanner of Cortland; Sue (Kevin) Eisenberg of Rochester; David Carr of Groton and Carol (Mike) Dawson of Charlotte, NC. Also surviving are her nieces and nephews, Jennifer (Bruce) Bristol; Samantha (Jerry) Fickett; Gary ‘Buzz’ (Paula) Harrington; Kelly (Mike) Howell; Beth Tanner; Wendy Carr; Amy Carr Aiken (Mike); Amber, Jeremy, Marissa and David Eisenberg; and Richard, Bekki and Maggie Dawson; her longtime and forever best friend, Debra Taylor; and her fur babies, Blossom, Jules and her forever Daisy as well as several grandchildren, grandnieces and nephews, all of whom hold a special forever place in Janice’s heart.
She was predeceased by a sister-in-law, Connie Carr.
Friends and family are invited to a gathering on Friday, May 5, 2023 at 3:30 p.m. at the Donald L. Barber Funeral Home, 5016 US Route 11, Homer. Interment in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden, will be at the convenience of the family.
In keeping with Janice’s wishes, there are no calling hours.
