JAMES T. MCGUINNESS [88] formerly of McGraw, NY Chose Nov. 5, 2023 to join his beloved wife Marjorie of 56 years in Heaven. Born July 5, 1935 in Bergen County NJ, he moved to Cortland County and ran the Family dairy farm for over 60 years. He was a proud member of the Eastern Producers Milk Cooperative and Agway Cooperative.
Jim was an avid baseball fan and softball player, with the Traveling Senior Softball league in Cortland County playing well into his 70’s. Enjoying Camping & hiking with his family throughout the Adirondacks in his retirement years. Jim & Marge enjoy riding motorcycles and were accomplished square dancers as members of the Seven Valley Whirlaways. Jim took a very memorable trip back to Ireland, his Irish roots, with his 3 sons. Enjoying many sites, good food and pints with his boys.
He is predeceased by his wife Marjorie Jean [Alcott] McGuinness and Parents John & Voila McGuinness and Brother John [Jack] McGuinness Jr. James is survived by a younger brother Michael McGuinness, Columbia SC, Sister-in-law Marie McGuinness Springdale, SC and his 5 children, Laura [James] Suchnicki of Westerly, RI, James T. McGuinness Jr. of Groton, NY, 13073
David McGuinness of McGraw, NY, Carol McGuinness of Syracuse, NY, Robert McGuinness of Marathon, NY, [12] Grandchildren and [12] great-grandchildren, several nieces & nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial to honor his memory will be held at 1pm Friday November 10, 2023 at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church 46 N. Main St., Cortland, N.Y. with a visitation from 11-12:30pm at Riccardi Funeral Home [69 N. Main Street Cortland, NY].
