Grace A. Hallock, age 84, passed away on February 25th, 2022 at Northwoods, Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Moravia, NY. She was born in Dryden, NY on September 25th, 1937, the daughter of the late Jack and LaVerna Shevalier.

Grace worked alongside her late husband, Paul L. Hallock, (deceased in 2009) on their dairy farm in Marathon, NY for 42 years. She retired in 2000 from Marathon Central School after working for 23 years as the night custodian at the high school. The year she retired the high school dedicated their yearbook to her and the other support staff that have so faithfully made a difference in the lives of everyone at the high school.

She had a love of antiques and enjoyed collecting them and working part-time at different antique shops in the area. She also loved feeding and watching humming birds. The iconic humming bird made an appearance in many of her sewing and craft projects.

Grace is well known for her knowledge of quilting and her quilt guild activities. Grace, her sisters and her friends have made hundreds of quilts that they donated to different charities over the years. Quilting and card making were wonderful past times in her beautifully appointed basement for many of us.

Surviving are her four siblings, Rose Haycook, Audrey (Bob) Maine, John (Hazel) Shevalier and Joe (Kim) Shevalier; her three daughters, Deborah (Keith) Smith, Christina (Aaron) Kimmich and Arlene (Jon) Roberts; her grandchildren, Rebecca (Sydney) Gasche, Richard (Elena Malovik) Kimmich, Benjamin (Annie) Smith, Andrea Smith, Joella Roberts, Elora Roberts and Leland Roberts; her great grandchildren, Carter Gasche, Camryn Gasche, Oliver Smith and Alexander Smith. Grace is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and great-nieces/nephews.

Her loving friends and family will miss this strong, kind lady. Memorials may be made to Peck Memorial Library at 24 Main Street, Marathon, NY 13803

A graveside service, to be held in the spring, will be announced later.
