Eugene A. Signor, 87, of Locke, passed away on October 28, 2023 at Cayuga Medical Center.
Gene was born December 27, 1935 in Moravia, a son of the late Alfred B. and Alice (Rouse) Signor. A lifelong area resident, he graduated from Genoa High School and earned an Associates Degree in Labor Law Studies at Cornell University, He retired as Business Representative for IUOE Local 545, having worked for over 40 years as an operating engineer.
He was a veteran of the US Army, where he had served in Germany as chief of an ordinance company. He was a member of Rowe-Churchill Post #770, Moravia American Legion. Gene was also a past member of the United Church of Genoa and the Long Hill Fire Department, and was an avid hunter and bowler in both the singles and mixed doubles leagues.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Tresure (Johnson) Signor; a son, Patrick Signor (Laura Clark) of Auburn; his brothers and sisters-in-law: George (Ann), Peter (Judy), Vic (Darlene) John (predeceased, Francine), and Danny Signor; sisters and brother-in-law: Emogene Signor, Linda Dickerson, and Marlene Reynolds (Ray); and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Charlene Signor and Carolyn Nye.
A funeral service will be held at 6:00 PM on Saturday, November 4 at the Shurtleff Funeral Home, 10117 State Route 90 in Genoa. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM and from 4:00 – 6:00 PM preceding the service. Interment will be at a later time in Baker Cemetery, Moravia.
