Eleanore E. Chew
Eleanore Edwards Chew, 98 formerly of Cortland, passed away peacefully on Friday October 15, in Elmira, NY. Mrs. Chew was born on March 29, 1923, in McGraw, NY to Harold and Viola Martin Edwards. She graduated from Cortland High School and worked as a bookkeeper for her husband’s business and at Sarvay Shoe Company.
She married the “boy next door” Viston Chew on May 16, 1948, and they were married 59 years at the time of his death.
She is survived by her children Stephen (Jacqueline) Chew of Tucson, AZ and Pamela (James) Larnard of Horseheads, NY. Her grandsons Wade Chew of Tucson, AZ, Zachary (Martha) of Arlington, VA and Gregory (Rebecca Verbanic) of Horseheads, NY. Her great grandchildren James Larnard of Horseheads, NY and Elena and Joseph Larnard of Arlington, VA. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins and sister-in-law Marie (Mrs. Philip) Chew.
Mrs. Chew was predeceased by her husband Viston, her grandson Bram Chew, her parents and her sister Beverly (Harris) Gilbertson. Also sisters and brothers in law Margaret Chew and Harold Lucas and Patricia Chew and Wilfred Race; brother in law Philip Chew.
The family will provide flowers.

There will be a calling hour and service at Wright Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland, NY at 11 AM on Thursday October 21, 2021 with the Rev. Hyun Joon Kim officiating.
