Dorothy Nell Lasater Macinski passed on to peace at home on October 8, 2015.
She was born on September 1, 1930 in Puryear, Tennessee. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, George Macinski. She is survived by her son Tom Macinski (Martha Keeler), grand-daughter Sarah Sperry (Adam Sperry), great-granddaughter Dorothy Sperry, two brothers Archie Lasater (Marjorie), and Carl Lasater, sister Gwen Merkur (Bruce Merkur), and many nieces and nephews. Family meant everything to Dorothy, and she embraced everyone as family.
Dorothy’s main devotion was to her family; first raising Tom, and then being a second mother to Sarah. Her relationship with her only granddaughter, Sarah, was very special and they both treasured it. Dorothy also loved her namesake, and great-grand daughter — loving that there were “two Dorothys” in the family.
Dorothy worked much of her life: retail, insurance, and supporting her family. She was proud of her family and encouraged their endeavors. She enjoyed helping Tom and Martha build Standing Stone Vineyards. For many years Dorothy was a fixture in the tasting room, employing her self-proclaimed hobby — talking. She enthusiastically poured wine in the tasting room while enjoying conversations.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 16, 2015 at 1 p.m. at the Donald L. Barber Funeral Home, 5016 N. Main St., Homer. NY.
