David L. Chaffee, of Homer NY, passed away May 28, 2020 with family by his side. He was born November 29, 1946 in Ithaca NY, being raised and educated in Lansing.

David was an Army veteran serving two years active duty then enlisted with the U.S. Army reserves and served for approximately twenty years. While still serving in the reserves he worked for Gutchess Lumber, as a corrections officer for Cortland co., and then finished his career at Pall Trinity after almost thirty years of employment. David enjoyed the outdoors and was active in many organizations. His memberships include the McLean Community Church, Groton City Ridge Runners Club, and Trout Unlimited to name a few. While enjoying the outdoors David liked to hunt, fish, hike, metal detect and collect history and treasures, along with traveling. He especially enjoyed traveling to California to visit family including his granddaughters Isabella and Sophia. He was very proud of their accomplishments as a 2020 High School Graduate and accomplished actress. His family and friends will remember his adventurous spirit and will be missed by many.

He is survived by his wife of 46 yrs. Jean Chaffee, his daughters Tina (James) O’Neil, Lorrie (Jeff) White, his stepson John (Sherie) Hand his granddaughters Isabella, Sophia and Harper, his siblings George & Cathy, John & Pat, Ruth & Gene, Hazel & Don, Albert & Debbie, John & Judy, Donna & Ozzie, along with numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and his faithful companion Daisy who never left his side.

David was predeceased by his parents Theodore and Opal Chaffee, his siblings Betty, Jean, Ted, Marvin, Edith, Grace and Joanne.
