Daniel R. Rogers, 66, of Route 11, Homer, passed away on Friday, October 16, 2015.
A lifelong area resident, Dan was born July 27, 1949 in Elmira, a son of the late Louis and Virginia Heib Rogers.
He was raised in Ithaca where he started working as a clerk and manager at several local grocery stores. He served as Assistant Chief with the Cayuga Heights Fire Department.
He was currently employed at Pall Trinity, Cortland and has been employed at Saulsbury Fire and Rescue.
Dan loved watching sports, especially NASCAR. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Surviving are his children, Kelly and Kyle Rogers; two grandchildren, Kaylee and Aiden; two sisters, Judy (Ed) Brown of Ithaca and Terry (John) Chilson of Drums, PA; a brother, James (Barbara) Rogers of Ithaca and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Bonnie Smith.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4-6 p.m. at the Donald L. Barber Funeral Home, 5016 N. Main St., Homer. Burial in Big Flats Rural Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions in Mr. Roger’s name may be directed to the charity of one’s choice.
