Obituary of Daniel J. Camp

Daniel Jay Camp, 65, from Cortlandville, went into the arms of Jesus to be perfectly restored in mind and body on July 17, 2023, at the Ithaca Medical Center.

Dan was born in Cortland, NY, on March 15, 1958, to David and Joyce Camp. He Graduated from Homer Central High School in 1977 and specialized in Computer Science at TC3. He gained a love of the St. Lawrence River when Kismet Island became the family summer home in 1973 where he fixed everything and then went water sking!

Dan is survived by his beloved daughters, Emily (Bryan) Gonzalez and Libby (Yusuke) Oshimizu. He delighted in playing with his 3 dear grandchildren – Annie, Luna and Hiro. Dan also leaves his mother, Joyce, and siblings, Janet (Doug) Young, Ginger (Mark) Kandle, and Peter (Diane) Camp, plus a close uncle, Jared (Sue) Randall. He was predeceased by his father David Camp.

Dan became an electrician working with Myron Walters. He helped his father in the family business and later worked for the Homer School District. His passion for serving others led him to offer his time and talent to anyone with need, friend or stranger. Loaves and Fishes and Cortland Bible Club Camp were organizations he so enjoyed supporting. He was instrumental in Mission work helping with construction projects in Haiti, Alaska (twice), and Lithuania. He found joy in singing and, fortunately for us, had a beautiful tenor voice. He thrilled audiences with his performance as Curly in Oklahoma, and enhanced every choir he joined.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Grace Christian Fellowship Church, on Saturday July 29, with Visiting 1:00-3:00 p.m. and the Celebration starting at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to Loaves and Fishes of Cortland, 13 Court St, Cortland, NY 13045.
