Clara Pace, 99, of Cortland passed away on January 5, 2021 at the Guthrie Cortland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born May 28, 1921 in Sgurgola, Italy, to Antonio and Assunta Pace.
Clara is survived by her son James (Catherine) Baranello and stepdaughter Patricia (S. Ralph) Thompson, grandchildren Adriana Baranello, Rachel Baranello and Jeffrey (Maria Luisa) Thompson, great grandson Silvio Thompson, brother Dr. Angelo Pace and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Clara was predeceased by her siblings Bianchina Zaccheo, Theresa Foote, Mafalda (Fannie) Fragnoli, William Pace and Pauline Toffolo, and stepdaughter Margaret R. Baranello.
Clara was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church and a member of the Altar Society and the Stella D’Oro Lodge. An accomplished chef, Clara owned and operated restaurants in Cortland and Auburn, NY. She prepared meals for Cortland Loaves and Fishes until retirement.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for the immediate family only. There will be no calling hours. Interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Cortland, NY will be private.
