Mr. Charles D. Cerio, “Chic” of Cortland passed on October 26, 2021 at the age of 101. Born July 18, 1920 in Cortland, Charlie was a life long resident of Cortland.
He faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army in World War ll and was formerly employed at Cary & Co. and the Cortland Corset Co. Charlie was also a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church.
He is survived by his daughter; Patti (Mike) Allen of Cortland and two grandchildren; Brian (Alexis) Allen and Megan Allen, all of Cortland. Also surviving Charlie are his many loving Reitano family members. He was preceded in death by; his wife; Margaret Cerio in 2001; a son; Joseph in 1970 and his sister; Rose Reitano.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11:30 a.m. in St. Anthony’s Church with Rev. Joseph Zareski serving as celebrant. Prayers of committal will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. in the Chapel of Riccardi Funeral Home, Cortland, N.Y. Contributions in Charlie’s memory may be made to a charity of ones choice. PLEASE NOTE: Masks are required for the visitation in the funeral home as well as the church for the funeral mass.
