Obituary of B. Louise Thornton

B. Louise Thornton, 74, of Brake Hill Rd., Homer, passed away surrounded by her daughters and sister following an extended illness on Wednesday, February 21, 2024.

A lifelong area resident, she was born October 14, 1949, a daughter of the late Richard “Pete” Thomas and Felicia Bell Thomas.

Louise was a kind soul and loving person who cherished her husband, family and friends who she also called family. She blessed us with her warm heart and contagious laugh and smile that we will all always look up too.

Louise, and her late husband, Jack, loved to go camping. They were on a couple’s bowling league at Hi-Lanes for many years beside their family and lifelong friends. Her love for frogs and music will forever remain in our hearts.

Louise ran a beauty salon from her home for several years before starting her own in home daycare. She raised many children from infancy to teenage years that have stayed in contact with her throughout the years into their adulthood.

Surviving are two daughters, Theresa L. (Michael) McCauslin, Sr. and Heather M. (Chad) Hill, both of Homer; four grandchildren, Brandon and Michael McCauslin, Jr. and Lorelei and Maggie Hill as well as six great grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters, Felicia ‘Peggy’ (Harold) Foster of Homer and April (Ted) Bainbridge of Little York; her sister-in-law, Patricia Thomas of Tully and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Jack E. Thornton in 2020, her brother, Richard Thomas in 2009 and her nephew, John W. Phillips in 2004.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the Donald L. Barber Funeral Home, 5016 US Route 11, Homer. Graveside services will be held in the spring in Atwater Cemetery, Homer.
