Obituary of Arden C. Allen

Arden Charles “Ardie” Allen, 88, passed away on Saturday October 14, 2023 at the New York State Veterans Home Oxford, NY.

A lifelong area resident, Ardie was born December 11, 1934, a son of the late Carlton and Lillian Rofe Allen.

He enlisted in the US Navy in 1954 and was honorably discharged in 1958.

He retired in 1995 from Smith Corona after more than 20 years of service.

Ardie’s pride and joy was his children and grandchildren. In his time, he enjoyed making gifts out of wood, he loved the water, boating, golfing, playing cards, watching sports and camping trips with his late wife Carolyn in the Adirondacks. He was also a former member of the American Legion Post 800, Groton.

Surviving are his children five children, Edward Trinkle Jr., Tennessee; Eric (Colleen) Trinkle of Virgil; Evan (Ardis) Trinkle of Kentucky; Kathleen (Gary) Compton of Brooktondale; Patricia (Michael) Searles of Tennessee; his brother, Donald (Gloria) Allen of Little York. Also surviving are his grandchildren and great grandchildren, Heather (Sean)Courage and their daughter, Aria Rose; Jacob Trinkle and his children, Jacob Paul and John Edward; Jolene Trinkle, and her children, Joel, Willow and Aspen; Eli (Robyn) Trinkle and his children, Dorian, Nora and Elliott; Elizabeth (Aaron) Withers, and their children, Elyse, James and Nora; Hannah (Jacob) Painter, their children, Molly and Jack; Rhea (Jason) Piffier and their daughter, Lemon; Brian Foote; Roger Proulx and his son, Rook and Tonya Proulx (Dan) Quintan McConnell.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Carolyn G. Allen in 1997; his siblings, Dorthea Allen, Betty (Allen) Howe; Margaret (Floyd) Murphy and William Allen.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 20, 2023 at the Donald L. Barber Funeral Home, 5016 US Route 11, Homer, with Pastor Tom Rofe officiating. Interment, with Navy honors, will follow in Glenwood Cemetery, Homer.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
