Alan L. Edwards, Sr., 69, of Summerhill, passed away at home on October 24, 2023.
He was born September 2, 1954 in Cortland, a son of the late James and Mary (Scutt) Edwards. Alan attended Groton schools and graduated from Fabius-Pompey Central School. He retired after a 30 year career with J.D. Ferro Roofing in Cortland. He was “all about” the motorcycles, both building and riding them.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Rondi (Thornton) Edwards; his children: Brian Edwards (Tricia), Alan Edwards, Jr. (Theresa), Jodi Lobdell (Jerry), Kimberly Elster (Mike), Walter DeGear (Marie), and Joseph Homza (David Syracuse); 12 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brothers, Jim Edwards and Thomas Edwards (Carmen); sisters, Heidi Albro (Jeremy) and Vickie Black (Marty); sister-in-law, Jenny Edwards; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Daniel Edwards and a sister, Diane Edwards.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM on Friday, October 27 at the Shurtleff Funeral Home, 103 Lincoln Avenue, Groton. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 3:00-4:00 PM, preceding the services.
