Obituary for Judith LaRue

Mrs. Judith LaRue, 80, formerly of Homer, passed away on Sunday December 14, 2025 at The Cottages at Garden Grove in Cicero, N.Y. Born February 17, 1945 in Cortland, Judith was the daughter of Guido and Mary Yacavone Petrella and a resident of the Cortland-Homer area her entire life.

Judith had retired from the Homer Central School where she was employed as a teacher’s aide at the high school a job she truly loved and where she found great fulfillment in her work. She was also a communicant of St. Margaret’s Church in Homer.

Survivors include; her son, Stephen LaRue (Dawn Daly) of DeWitt, N.Y. a brother; Joseph Petrella of Cortland; her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the greatest joy of her life and she is also survived by them; her four grandchildren; Brittany LaRue Fletcher and Nicholas LaRue, John Henry Brown and Isabelle Brown, seven great grandchildren; Kyson LaRue, Breighlyn LaRue, Samxon May and Waylon May, Theodore and Franklin Fletcher and Hudson Samuel Olivares.

Judith was preceded in death by her husband; Joseph LaRue in 2017, her daughter; Kristin Brown in 2017, her grandson; Samuel Brown in 2019 and her brother; Guido Petrella in 2014.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Margaret’s Roman Catholic Church, Homer, N.Y. The Christian Rite of Committal and Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Cortland, N.Y. The family will be present to receive friends on Friday from 2-5 p.m. in the Chapel of Riccardi Funeral Home, Cortland, N.Y.
