The New York State Electric and Gas Company (NYSEG) says 40% of drivers are saying they’re likely to switch to an electric vehicle, but are waiting for either the prices to come down, longer vehicle range, and more available charging stations.

NYSEG says the time to make the switch to an electric vehicle is now. The company cited falling prices for electric vehicles along with the availability of credits and rebates up to $9,500 dollars, and savings in fuel and maintenance costs. Currently, there are over 10,000 charging stations in New York State, NYSEG says though 80% of electric vehicle charging takes place at home in the overnight hours.

For 2024, an estimated 14 million people will buy an electric vehicle with half of all new vehicles sold being electric by 2030. NYSEG is providing detailed information on consumers who are thinking about making the switch to electric vehicles. That information may be found HERE.
