NYSDOT Reminding Motorists if a Traffic Light is Out, Treat it as an All Way Stop
With Tuesday’s storms causing power outages throughout the Central New York Region, the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) is reminding motorists if they come across a traffic light that is out, to treat it as an all way stop.
The NYSDOT says you should also yield to the right, use turn signals, and exercise caution when approaching a traffic signal that is out. Always remember to check for pedestrians. Motorists who fail to stop at an out traffic signal could receive a stop sign violation. That ticket is up to $150 for a first violation, with a mandatory surcharge of $93 added. You will also receive three points on your license.
