NYSDOT Reduces Speed Limit on Portion of Route 215 in Cortlandville

The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) has reduced the speed limit for a portion of Route 215 in the Town of Cortlandville. The reduction in the speed limit comes after the NYSDOT reviewed existing roadside development, looked at crash data, test drives and radar data. The request of reducing the speed limit from its current 55mph came from a resident who lives on Route 215.

The NYSDOT approved reducing the speed limit back in June. The new zone, the NYSDOT told X101 News, covers the stretch of the roadway from just south of Bennie Road, or about 400 feet south of the Willowbrook Golf Club, and runs north to the current 40 mph zone, which starts just south of Starr Road. New signage has already been installed by NYSDOT crews.
