NYSDOT in Design Phase of Route 281 & 90 Intersection Safety Improvement Project
The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) has informed X101 News they are in the design phase of the safety improvement project for the busy intersection of Route 281 and Route 90 in the Village of Homer.
The NYSDOT says contractors have been working on locating underground utilities. This has resulted in workers marking the area with pink flags and spray paint markings.
As the project remains under the design phase, the NYSDOT has not yet announced what the improvements will specifically be. This could be the addition of designated turn lanes or the growing implementation of roundabouts in the state. Once work moves farther along in the design phase, the NYSDOT is expected to provide greater detail on their plans.
As a reminder for motorists traveling through the area, remember to use extra caution when workers are along the roadway and to slow down.
