NYSDOT Asking Drivers to Not Crowd the Plow

As the snow fall continues throughout the state and more is expected for the remainder of the week, snow plows have been working nonstop to keep the roads clear for drivers. The New York State Department of Transportation is asking motorists to not “Crowd the Plow” when seeing a plow on the roadway.

The reason, snow plows can kick up clouds of snow that create whiteout conditions, plows can’t stop as quickly as smaller vehicles or maneuver easily, and snow plows have many large blind spots when operating on the road.

The safest place to be is behind the plow at a safe distance, the road will be freshly cleared and salted.
