NYS Trooper Entrance Exam Exceeds 10,000 Applications

The New York State Police have announced over 10,000 people have put in their applications to take the Trooper Entrance Exam. Applications for the exam opened back in July and the deadline to apply will be on October 1st.

Earlier this year Governor Hochul approved changes to the New York State Police in raising the maximum age people may apply to become a Trooper from 29 to 34 years old. NYS Police say this change has brought in nearly 2,400 applicants.

On top of raising the age limit, the State Police also revised their tattoo policy. Candidates may now have tattoos, but must be capable of being covered by wearing fitted long sleeve uniform shirts or business attire with no portion of the tattoo showing.
