Gov. Hochul announced an initiative to raise awareness for unpaid working caregivers as well as the resources that are available to help them.
The endeavor seeks to survey state employees and gain insight on the impact of caregiving on the workplace. The initiative also promotes a guide that provides information to help employers support these individuals
It is estimated that New York State has more than four million unpaid caregivers usually supporting a loved one like a spouse, parent or child with a range of tasks to aid them. AARP estimates these unpaid services would cost roughly $32 billion annually.
