NYS Thruway Authority Warning of Text Scam

The New York State Thruway Authority is warning of a smishing text scam that is happening throughout the state. The scam text informs you of an unpaid toll invoice for your vehicle and to avoid extra charges, click the link at the bottom of the text.

The Thruway Authority says they will never send either a text or email requesting personal information including credit card numbers, social security, usernames, or passwords. If you’ve received this type of smishing text, do not click on the link and delete and report the text as junk.

Any toll bills are mailed to the vehicles registered owner through the address that is on file with the Department of Motor Vehicles. More information on toll payments can be found at the Thruway Authority website, HERE.
