NYS Senator Webb Encouraging High School Seniors to Take Advantage of Free Application Period For SUNY Schools

New York State Senator, Lea Webb (SD-52) is encouraging high school students in the 52nd Senate District to take advantage of the free application period for students who apply to SUNY schools. High school seniors could save up to $250 in application fees during this period.

October is New York State College Appreciation Month and the SUNY System is currently offering “Free Application Weeks” through November 3rd, the period beginning on October 21st. Senator Webb says the two-week period, any high school student applying to one of SUNY’s 64 campuses throughout the state can have the fee for up to five applications waived, a savings of $250.

“As a proud SUNY alumna and a former educator at SUNY, I am thrilled that New York State is expanding access to our incredible public institutions,” said Senator Lea Webb. “Waiving application fees opens the doors for students to continue their educational journey, helping us reverse declining enrollment and create pathways to success. I remain committed to making higher education more affordable and expanding opportunities for all students through initiatives like Free Application Weeks.”

The Free Application Week by SUNY is a way to reduce the financial barriers for students throughout the state, especially for students in low-income families, first generation college students, and others who are facing economic obstacles when applying for college. SUNY tuition is currently set at $7,070 per year.

High school students may go to ApplySUNY or Common App and apply for up to five SUNY schools through November 3rd at no cost. More information may be found at SUNY.edu.
