Gov. Hochul announced that in 2022 New York State welcomed a record 291.5 million visitors, the largest number of visitors in New York State’s history.

Those total visitors generated more than $78.6 billion in direct spending and $123 billion in total economic impact. These figures represent significant increases over 2021 and surpasses prior records set in 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic. Last year New York State saw a ten percent bump in visitation compared to that record-breaking 2019, as well as a four percent increase in economic impact and a seven percent rise in direct visitor spending.
