The New York State Police have issued an alert this holiday season for residents to keep aware of Porch Pirates.
Incidents have been reported around the state, including some instances of people stealing packages in Cortland.
A tip provided by Troopers is to make sure that you are home when your packages are being delivered and to track its progress until it arrives.
If being home isn’t possible, having the packaged delivered to a trusted neighbor while you’re away is another option.
