The New York State DMV announced the second phase of a rollout of new inspection stickers to licensed inspection stations, with more than 100,000 inspections conducted since the new stickers were rolled out earlier this year.
Phase two involves shipping the print-on-demand sticker system to thousands of state-licensed inspection stations. The new system prints the vehicle’s VIN number and mileage on the sticker itself. From year to year sticker colors on vehicles will change to provide added info on if the vehicle in question has had an up to date inspection.
The transition to the new system is expected to continue through the end of 2023.
