Gov. Hochul announced more than 550 people received tickets during the State DMV’s seasonal crackdown on the usage of fake ID’s to purchase alcohol. There were 259 citations issued and 275 fake IDs seized in the Finger Lakes region.
The campaign largely focused on concert venues where young people often use fake IDs to purchase alcohol. DMV investigators are specifically trained and use specially designed equipment to scan and identify the fraudulent documents.
“New York has so many wonderful venues for live music, and we want people to enjoy them safely. By ramping up our enforcement efforts, we’ll help prevent underage New Yorkers from purchasing alcohol and lower the risk of DWI’s”, Gov. Hochul said.
