New York State’s Cannabis Control Board and the Office of Cannabis Management has announced its plans to double the number of Conditional Adult-Use Retail Dispensary, or CAURD Licenses from 150 to 300.
The move’s designed to enable additional highly qualified individuals to be among the first in the state to open cannabis dispensaries. The endeavor’s expansion will also further advance New York’s Seeding Opportunity Initiative. The program allows for the state’s first legal adult-use retail dispensaries to be operated by those most affected by the ban on marijuana, or by non-profits whose services include help for the formerly incarcerated.
The Office of Cannabis Management has received around 900 applications for CAURD licenses, to date issuing roughly 66 of the provisional licenses.
