Applications for New York State’s new $250 million Climate Friendly Homes Fund are now open.
The initiative will provide financial assistance to small building owners that increase energy efficiency and decrease greenhouse gas emissions in their structures. The funds are meant to offset the costs required by these owners for an energy audit and physical needs assessment to identify chances for reducing carbon emissions.
Improvements eligible for funding include electrifying a building’s heating and cooling systems, and basic improvements in efficiency of building and ventilation systems. To qualify, a structure must have between five and 50 units and must be subject to various criteria including an existing regulatory agreement.
