The New York State Department of Transportation (DOT) says they will be hosting a public information meeting regarding the planned resurfacing and safety improvements project within the City of Ithaca for the State Routes of 13, 34, and 96. The meeting will take place on Wednesday, April 3rd, from 5 to 7pm.

The location of the meeting, which will be an open-house style, will be in room K128 at the Ithaca High School on North Cayuga Street in the City of Ithaca. The meeting will provide preliminary project plans for review along with representatives from the DOT.

Work is planned to begin next Spring (2025) with the resurfacing of three miles of roadway on Route 13 at Elmira Road and extending north along Route 13, 34, and 96 to the city line. Work will also include the Meadow Street/Fulton Street corridors and a portion of Buffalo Street, Seneca Street, and Green Street.

Asides from the resurfacing, the DOT says it will include updated traffic signals, improved pavement markings, and drainage system upgrades. Both the existing sidewalk and pedestrian ramps will be updated too.

For additional information on the project, the DOT asks residents to email John.Gleason@DOT.NY.Gov.
