NYDOT Installs New Exit Numbers on I81 – See New Exit Numbers
The New York State Department of Transportation has updated the exit numbers along Interstate 81 in Cortland County. Back in June of this year, the DOT announced the conversion from sequential numbering to a mileage-based location along the highway from Pennsylvania.
The changeover will give motorists a more accurate indication of how many miles they will need to travel before getting to their destination. In Cortland County all but one exit will have the same exit number for northbound and southbound on/off ramps. Only Marathon will have a different exit number for I81 North and I81 South due to the locations of each exit.
You can see the exits with their former number and now updated exit number below:
Marathon (US-11/ NY-221):
- Old Exit #9
- Northbound – Exit 38
- Southbound – Exit 39

- Southbound – Exit 50
Cortland (NY-13)
