In a release from the Homer Central School District, on July 12th, the district was informed by SUNY that the Application for the Truxton Academy Charter School had been accepted for review for the October 24th meeting with SUNY.
By law, the Homer School District will be holding a public meeting on August 8th from 7pm to 9pm in the Homer High School Auditorium.
The district says those wishing to make a comment will have 2 minutes to do so and those who will need more time should submit their comments in writing.
All comments made at the hearing will be submitted to the Charter School Office.
More details on the fiscal impact can be found at homercentral.org.
Correction: This article incorrectly stated that the NYS Education Department received, and is considering, a charter school application from the proposed Truxton Academy Charter School. In fact, the application was submitted through SUNY, not the NYS Education Department or the NYS Board of Regents.
Last year, the State Education Board rejected the Application for the Truxton Academy Charter School.
