NY Senator Webb Presents Check For Renovations at Raymond G. Thorpe Municipal Building in Cortlandville
Tuesday afternoon, New York State Senator Lea Webb (SD-52) presented Cortlandville Town Supervisor Greg Leach a $150,000 grant through the state’s Community Resiliency, Economic Sustainability, and Technology Program, also known as CREST. The funds will be used to provide better access for town residents, but also improve security at the Raymond G. Thorpe Municipal Building.
Senator Webb highlighted the importance of having an accessible government hub, such as the municipal building, and to provide the infrastructure to provide import resources and support for residents. When Supervisor Leach reached out to Senator Webb, she said her and her office began work to ensure funds could be made for the building improvements. The last time the municipal building saw significant renovations was back in 2007/2008 on the addition of the town court room.
“This funding will allow us to install a new vestibule and key fob entry system, here at Town Hall. While these upgrade may sound simple, their impact is significant. New vestibule will enhance security and accessibility while the key fob system will modernize our building security ensuring the town employees and the public are protected as we carry out the essential work of local government” Town Supervisor Leach said.

Supervisor Leach extended his sincere thanks to Senator Webb for her assistance in obtaining CREST funding. After the presentation of the check, Supervisor Leach provided a tour of the municipal building to Senator Webb, showing her the reason why security is important for the building. Currently, when the building is open for office hours, access to offices inside the building have no security restrictions, besides the access to the Town Court. Designs for the project are well underway with work expected to begin sometime next year.
