NY Senator Webb & Assemblymember Kelles Announce Utility Assistance Workshop – To Help Utility Customers Find Eligible Financial Assistance
Happening on Thursday, February 27th from 4pm to 7pm at the Greater Ithaca Activities Center located at 301 W. Court Street in Ithaca, New York State Senator Lea Webb (SD-52), Assemblymember Anna Kelles (AD-125) and the Public Utility Law Project of New York (PULP) will be hosting a workshop to help utility customers check if they’re eligible for financial and energy assistance programs to help reduce their energy bills during the winter months.
The workshop is being supported by NYSEG, the Tompkins County Office for the Aging, Cornell Cooperative Extension, CAPCO, and the Department of Public Service.
Some of the programs the workshop will assist utility customers check eligibility for include programs such as the NYSEG Energy Affordability Program monthly bill discount, the Home Energy Assistance Program (“HEAP”), energy efficiency programs, and others.
Senator Webb’s Office says trained advocates from PULP along with other agencies will help in checking utility bills to see if that customer is enrolled in their utility low-income monthly bill discount program. They will also assist with applications for HEAP and programs that would help improve home insulation.
“Participants are encouraged to come prepared with their utility bill, a valid form of identification, and if available, a copy of their current benefits award letter from public assistance programs like HEAP, SNAP, or SSI, to facilitate the assistance process.”
Senator Webb’s Office said in a release.
A snow date of Thursday, March 6th from 4pm to 7pm, will occur in the event of poor weather conditions on February 27th.
