NY Senator Webb Announces Over $100k in State Funding For Equipment in Emergency Food Relief Efforts – Seven Valleys Health Coalition Awarded $56k
New York State Senator Lea Webb has announced she has secured over $100,000 in state funding to assistance agencies who are providing emergency food relief for the purchase of equipment. Seven Valleys Health Coalition (SVHC) received $56,000 towards the purchase of a pickup truck.
“These grants represent a critical investment in the infrastructure that supports food security in our state,” said Senator Lea Webb. “By providing organizations with the equipment they need to safely store, transport, and distribute food, we are strengthening our emergency response capacity and expanding access for the most vulnerable. I remain committed to advancing policies that uplift families and reinforce the essential work of our community partners.”
The purchase of a pickup truck for SVHC will include a bed topper for the truck and three insulated food storage containers, Webb says. This purchase will help the organization expand two of their programs, Seven Valleys Food Rescue and Produce Prescription.
Other organizations awarded funding included the Catholic Charities of Broome County ($46,495.76), Catholic Charities of Tompkins & Tioga Counties ($10,500), and the Broome County Council of Churches Inc. ($6,523).
Grant funding was administered by the Department of Environmental Conservation with funding from New York’s Environmental Protection Fund.
