New York State Senator Lea Webb (NY-52) has announced she has secured funding through the 2023-2024 NYS Budget for the Christmas Tree Farmers Association of New York (CTFANY) in the amount of $126,000 dollars.
The CTFANY works to empower farmers in the development of the real Christmas tree industry. The organization provides information and opportunities for their members which include: national visibility and satire, quality production, preservation, education, and more.
Said Senator Lea Webb, “For families across the Southern Tier, visiting a local Christmas Tree farm to choose the perfect holiday tree is a time-honored tradition. Our local Christmas tree farmers play an important role in New York’s agricultural industry, filling homes with light and joy, and contributing to this special time of year. I am pleased that we were able to allocate state funds in the 2023-2024 NYS Budget to support the Christmas Tree Farmers’ Association of New York and the important work they do to support our local tree farmers and grow our economy.”
New York State currently has 875 tree farms, according to the CTFANY. The tree farms take nearly 19,000 acres and ranks #4 in the country in acres dedicated to growing Christmas trees. You can learn more about the organization HERE.
