The record setting PowerBall, which totaled $2.04 billion, has proved to be extremely helpful for aid in education in the State of New York.
Lottery sales in the state for the Powerball totaled $244.5 million dollars. All the profits from the lottery sales are dedicated to the state’s K-12 public schools, that total was over $85 million dollars.
“The numbers speak for themselves: The New York Lottery provides fun and entertainment for millions of responsible New Yorkers while also repeatedly smashing revenue records for public schools and supporting small businesses across the state,” said New York State Gaming Commission Chairman Brian O’Dwyer. “The Gaming Commission will continue to provide effective regulation and operation of the Lottery to further its mission to support our schools and retailers.”
The New York Lottery continues to be North America’s largest and most profitable Lottery, contributing $3.6 billion in Lottery Aid to Education for FY 2021-2022 to help support education in New York State.
