New York State Lieutenant Governor, Antonio Delgado, visited the SUNY Cortland Campus yesterday afternoon. The Lieutenant Governor visited to speak with students who are involved with community service projects within Cortland County.

X101 News had a chance to speak with the Lieutenant Governor and asked him his purpose for visiting the SUNY campus today.

“The biggest thing is connecting with our young people to figure out how [to] first: identify the amazing work they’re already doing in the space around service and civic engagement. We’re trying at the state level to stand-up an Office of Service and Civic Engagement where we empower our young people.”

Delgado said to X101 News.

During the event, the Lieutenant Governor heard more on civic engagement, helping area nonprofits, assistance to service clubs, involvement in the political process, and registering students to vote.
