The New York Farm Bureau is offering scholarships to high school seniors in the state who will be graduating and are interested in pursuing a career in agriculture.
The seniors can now apply for the New York Farm Bureau’s Agricultural Youth Scholarship. Students who are eligible can use the financial award for college to help them advance their training in skilled trades. Winners could earn up to $3,000 towards their future education.
Applicants must be a New York Farm Bureau member, or one of their family members a member of the Farm Bureau. The student must also live and or work on a farm or be involved in agriculture within the state. The application will include writing an essay on what they value and stand for in agriculture and life and how these values have impacted their decision to pursue a career in agriculture.
A score will then determine the district winners with a personal interview possible. District winners will receive $250 and then be able to compete for one of the two state scholarships worth $3,000 and $2,000, based on their submitted applications.
All applications must be submitted by March 17th. Judging will then take place on April 28th for district winners and state winners announced by the end of May.
