The National Weather Service (NWS) in Binghamton says not only snow showers will be likely this afternoon, but snow squalls are expected to develop in our area too. The squalls are expected to develop from the northwest and travel southeast. The NWS says the squalls could hit the Cortland County area between 1 and 4 o’clock this afternoon.

Snow squalls reduce visibility, have gusty winds, and typically result in fast snow accumulations. Traveling during a snow squall could become difficult. Temperatures are expected to fall by early afternoon, right as the snow squalls will be traveling through the area.

Total snow accumulations for the afternoon in the Cortland area are between 1 and 2 inches. For the overnight, accumulations are between 3 and 4 inches.
