NWS Issues Fire Weather Watch Through This Evening
Update 3/19 at 10:30am: The National Weather Service has now issued a Red Flag Warning through 8pm Wednesday evening. The upgraded warning is due to low humidity and gusty winds, the NWS says. Winds will be coming from the south between 14 to 22 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.
The National Weather Service (NWS) in Binghamton has issued a Fire Weather Watch for our area. The watch is in effect through this evening, Wednesday March 19th. The NWS says winds at 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph can lead to a fire spreading rapidly.
With a Fire Weather Watch, the NWS says any type of outdoor burning is not recommended. A state-wide burn ban is in effect through May 14th. No severe weather is expected.
