Numerous Power Outages in Cortland County – Dozens of Trees and Wires Down – North Cortland and Homer Hardest Hit

Thousands are without power in the Greater Cortland area after a severe thunderstorm rolled through around 5:20 in the evening. National Grid is reporting numerous power outages in Homer, Cortland, Cortlandville, and Scott with thousands of customers affected. Power restoration times vary between 6:45pm and 11:30pm this evening.


Reports are also coming in of flooded streets, downed wires, and fallen trees. X101 News spoke with Cortland Mayor Scott Steve who says the hardest hit areas were North Cortland and Homer. Cortland County 9-1-1 was briefly taken down due to the severity of the storm.

Numerous roads are closed due to downed trees and flooding including: Albany Street in Homer, Route 13 between Searls Road and East Homer Crossing Road and Health Camp Road in Truxton.
