As the Spring season is now in full swing, high school students throughout the state will be enjoying this time of year traveling to proms and graduation ceremonies.
With this also begins the No Empty Chair Campaign. Police agencies throughout the state and the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee will work to ensure this time of year remains safe for teens and their families.
The campaign begins on Monday and runs through Friday, Officers from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office will raise awareness of highway dangers to students to ensure there will be no empty chairs during prom and/or graduation. Each day will have a specific topic.
- Monday, April 24th – Speeding in School Zones
- Tuesday, April 25th- Seat belt and Child Restraints
- Wednesday, April 26th- Cell Phone Use and Texting
- Thursday, April 27th- Operation Safe Stop
- Friday, April 28th – Underage Drinking and Impaired Driving.
