The third round of New York State’s “Regenerate NY” Forestry Cost Share Grant Program has launched with $850,000 in funding available.

The money is meant to assist private landowners in growing more forest trees, which is important in mitigating climate change, protecting air and water quality, and other environmental-based measures. Private landowners planning to restore or establish five or more acres of forest lands in New York State can apply for grand awards ranging from $10,000 minimum to the maximum of $100,000, with a required 25% match.

Eligible projects include planting trees, removing competing vegetation, and installation of deer fence. Up to two applications may be submitted per applicant, provided applications are for separate properties.
