The County Police Association of Cortland (CPAC) announced their support for New York Senate candidate Mike Sigler on Tuesday.

CPAC is the public employee union of the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office. They represent the office’s road patrol and criminal investigations officers, and are the latest law enforcement organization to endorse Sigler. He looks to succeed the incumbent Lea Webb of the 52nd District, which was one of New York State’s closest elections in 2022.

CPAC follows a long list of Sheriffs and associated law enforcement groups to endorse Sigler. This list includes, but is not limited to, Cortland County Sheriff Mark Helms, Broome County Sheriff Fred Akshar, and the Tompkins County Corrections Officers Association.

“We know that your voice will be a powerful advocate for effective and deliberate reforms, addressing the serious issues that we face daily,” CPAC President Cody Sandy stated in the official letter of endorsement. “We also know you’ll be strong in opposition to damaging efforts to defund the police, along with bail reform and other pro-criminal policies.”

Sigler’s name will appear on the Republican and Local 607 ballot lines for the 2024 General Election, which starts on November 5th. Early voting will take place from October 26th to November 3rd. Absentee ballots will also be available.
