New York National Guard Stands Ready To Assist Victims Of Florence

The New York Air National Guard yesterday (September 13) deployed over 100 personnel from its 106th Rescue Wing on Long Island to its base in Dover, Delaware.

There, they will wait to be called into the disaster areas of Hurricane Florence.

The 106th Wing also deployed personnel, boats and aircraft to Texas, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands last year following Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.

The troop was credited with rescuing 546 people in Texas using boats and helicopters and assisting in the airlift of 1,500 Americans from the island of St. Maarten.
