A New Year has rung in and with that, gas prices have increased once again. The national average for a gallon of gas jumped by 13 cents from last Monday, according to Triple A. The national average now stands at $3.23 per gallon, with New York’s average now at 3.42 per gallon.
The average gallon of gas in the state remains lower than what it was just a year ago, but is expected to rise as the state’s gas tax suspension expired at the beginning of 2023.
Currently, Cortland County has an average of $3.52 per gallon. Neighboring Tompkins County has an average slightly higher at $3.55 a gallon.
