The state has 227 new State Police Officers as of today (Thursday); they graduated Wednesday from the Police Academy in Albany and were congratulated by Governor Kathy Hochul.

“16,000 people took the exam to be sitting where you are,” said Hochul. “Another 1,700 were processed, but look, who is sitting here: 227 individuals. You are the elite. You are the brightest, the finest, the most knowledgeable, the most committed to public service.”

Hochul also committed the State Police to what’s called the 30×30…for women to be 30 percent of recruit classes by 2030.

None of the new troopers are from Cortland County, although several will be stationed around Central New York as they begin 10-weeks of field-supervised training.
